More Horizon Europe schemes are on their way. The first Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) have been announced to launch on 18th May 2021. If you’ve been involved in MSCA before, you’ll find everything much the way it was, other than one or two interesting change: age and resubmission limits.
In an attempt to reduce the number of applications and improve success rates, only researchers with <8 years of postdoctoral experience will be eligible to apply, and resubmissions will be rejected if they scored too low previously. Whilst this change is somewhat controversial, as the introduction of additional exclusion criteria can be, improvements to inclusivity and equality have also been introduced. Ties with industry have also been strengthened, with additional funding being made available for time in industry.
These changes aren’t official yet, these changes will be voted on in April, and everything is subject to change before then. The date is set though, so if you’re an early career researcher, then mark the 18th May into your diary, and keep your eye out for the MSCA work programme. We’ll be letting you know when it arrives!
