We are located in Dundee, Scotland, but our work in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe takes us all around the world.

Cordelia Lennon

Founder, Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

Cordelia has worked for MODUS since its launch in 2017. She trained as a Marine Biologist, completing her BSc at the University of Aberdeen and MSc at Heriot Watt University, before moving into the field of European research funding. With over 10 years of experience of working on European Research and Innovation projects both as a project manager and proposal writer she has considerable expertise in the research and innovation domain.
Cordelia has a broad interest in all areas of research and has supported the development and delivery of projects in subjects as diverse as blue growth, laser based manufacturing and medical device development. Her ability to rapidly learn new things and understand often complex ideas make her ideally suited to her role with MODUS.
Cordelia particularly enjoys interacting with, and learning from, scientists that are leaders in their fields. Working on winning proposals with world-leading and dedicated consortia makes her job a pleasure.

Neil Stewart

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

Neil joined MODUS in 2018 following more than 10 years working on EU research and innovation projects at Kite Innovation. Prior to that he worked in various technical, operational and commercial roles in printing, packaging and sustainable technology companies. He has a broad scientific and technical background including a degree in Chemistry an MBA in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and a PhD in BioPhotonics and has worked in research areas ranging from photonics to Alzheimer's disease and advanced water treatment to cancer biomarkers.

His strong commercial experience helps develop and grow collaborations between academic organisations and research intensive businesses and to fully elaborate the exploitation plans which are essential for research impact. He has worked on many successful proposals and managed collaborative projects including laser diagnostics and neurodegenerative disease research.

Bridget Glaysher

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

Bridget Glaysher joined MODUS in 2017 having worked in the management of European collaborative research projects for three years previously. Bridget began her career as an academic research scientist, completing a PhD in immunology at the University of Edinburgh in 2007 and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Dundee and the University of York. Her background in academic research has given her invaluable insights into the practical and financial challenges associated with collaborative research. These crucial insights underpin both her proposal development and project management work.

Bridget has particularly strong writing skills and is recognised among her colleagues for her attention to detail. These are invaluable skills for a member of the MODUS team which she puts to excellent use in supporting her clients in both proposal development and project management; and in her contributions to the running of MODUS.

Bridget has worked on a wide range of projects and proposals over the years at MODUS, covering a diverse range of topics from Alzheimer's disease and aortic aneurysms to seawater mining and renewable energy technologies. Bridget enjoys working on such a broad spectrum of topics, and is currently excited to be a part of the ADAPTED project which she sees as having great potential to revolutionise Alzheimer's disease research and provide new avenues to tackle one of today's major and growing health problems.

James Dickie

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

James Dickie joined MODUS in 2020, after completing his PhD in cancer vaccines from Southampton University. Prior to this he worked in the NHS providing immunophenotyping services for organ transplants. His academic experience grants him insight into the real-world challenges of research, whilst his clinical experience grants insight to real world applications of research, necessary skills for the development of a successful research innovations.
James’ greatest interest is scientific dissemination, with years of engagement with a variety of different audiences, from experts to the public. As such, James brings enthusiasm and experience to the communication of research, and contributes to the marketing and outreach of MODUS and the projects we manage.

Robyn Plaice-Inglis

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

Robyn joined MODUS in 2020 following several years working within the biotech industry. Robyn graduated in BSc(hon) Forensic Sciences in 2012 and started her career as a research scientist for Scottish based research company CelluComp, where she helped to develop and commercialise their novel cellulose extraction process. After successfully implementing pilot scale extraction, Robyn focused on writing and managing the companies collaborative EU and Innovate research projects. She has a broad scientific knowledge across biotechnology, covering processing, pilot scale-up to commercialisation and technology application in foods, bio composites, paints and coatings.
Robyn has a passion for novel innovation and is dedicated to getting original research ideas recognised and realised in real world applications. Coupled with strong industrial and academic links in the biotechnology sector, she delivers resourceful and effective support throughout the proposal writing process and beyond.

Izabella Otalega

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

After working as a postdoctoral researcher on several mine water geothermal projects in Scotland, Izabella joined Modus in 2022. Her background is in geology and hydrogeology, and she graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2021 with a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a focus on rock-fluid interactions during hydraulic fracturing and their environmental implications.

Izabella is especially interested in effective science communication to a diverse audience, including the creation of engaging visual communication materials. Her attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, and excellent writing skills make her well-suited to developing successful research proposals in all fields.

Marieke Dickie

Innovation Manager and Proposal Writer

Marieke joined Modus in 2022, following several years working as a postdoctoral research fellow in cell biology. She graduated with a MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Kiel (Germany) in 2016, having spent a semester at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In 2019, she obtained a PhD in Infection, Inflammation and Immunity from the University of Southampton, with a particular focus on gene-environment interactions in respiratory diseases. During her time as a research fellow at the University of St Andrews, her focus shifted to the cellular biology of muscular dystrophy.
Her flexibility and adaptability to grasp new concepts quickly, combined with her attention to detail, make Marieke ideally suited to develop proposals on a wide range of topics.
